It was 10:30PM Sunday night when Tom and I strapped on our packs and headed out on the Dodson Trail to find a place to camp. Night hiking with one headlamp and a MagLite: an experience. Our camping spot had to be 0.5 miles from the road and 100 feet away from the trail. We were to find out that finding a level spot to camp on this roller-coaster trail was near next to impossible. The spot that we stopped at was on a somewhat level mountain spur. This is a picture of our camping spot taken the following morning.
