On Sunday we drove into the park and to the Permit office to get our backcountry camping permits. We were planning to do the Outer Loop trail through the Chisos Mountains and surrounding Chihuahuan Desert. We would have to cache our water at the end of a rough road, but, we thought that Lee's vehicle could help us with the caching. Tom and I decided to go and hike one of the canyons in the park. We chose to drive to Boquillas Canyon and hike to the end of the trail. The rangers in that part of the park said that we would know when to turn back.
